Families of Facebook Group Rules

Official Families of the Class of 2026 Facebook Group:

Welcome to the Families of Class of 2026 Facebook group. We’re so happy to welcome you to the Mountaineer family. This group is designed to introduce you to WVU and walk you through the admissions process with your student. Most importantly, this group is your platform to ask us questions. This group is managed by staff from University Relations and the Mountaineer Parents Club at WVU.

Before you get started, we ask that you read these rules before you’re accepted as a member on the group.

  1. You will need to answer all three questions to be a member on this page
    • Your email

    • Have you read the Families of rules?
  2. This page is for parents or guardians of an incoming student for the Class of 2026. No WVU faculty/staff or current or incoming students will be accepted.
  3. Every question you submit will be reviewed before they are posted to the page.
  4. Some questions may take longer to approve. If the question is more detailed, it may require research and reaching out to a department or specific person. But, don’t worry, we’re working hard to get the right answer for you.
  5. It may take between 24-72 hours to approve and/or answer a question. If you have an urgent question, please call the department your question is related to.
  6. We only answer questions Monday – Friday from 8:15 a.m. – 4:45 p.m.
  7. We cannot answer financial aid questions or questions that could compromise FERPA. You can call the Hub at 304-293-1988.
  8. Some questions may not be approved and may require a private message. Please check your Facebook inbox when this happens.
  9. If we cannot provide detailed answers to certain subjects, we will direct you to a website that has the correct information.
  10. We will post announcements throughout the month around “hot” topics.
  11. Please be polite with one another. This is a stressful time for everyone but we’re all going through this togeth er.
  12. Throughout the year, we will host a series of Q&A’s where we will be available to answer your questions all day lo ng.

Official Families of WVU Students Facebook Group:

Welcome to the Official Families of WVU Students Facebook group. This group is designed to be a hub to connect with other WVU families, ask questions, and receive updates from WVU. This group is managed by staff from University Relations and the Mountaineer Parents Club at WVU and moderated by current WVU parents.

Before you get started, we ask that you read these rules before you’re accepted as a member on the group.

  1. You will need to answer all three questions to be a member of this group.

  2. This group is for parents of current WVU students.

    *Parents of recently admitted students should consider joining our Official West Virginia University Families of the Class of 2026 Facebook group, as well. There, you will be able to see more in-depth questions around the admissions process.

    * Faculty or staff wanting to join the group will receive an email from the Parents Club with guidelines. You will need to accept those guidelines before you are permitted to join the group.

  3. Questions can be posted will need to be approved by a moderator. Any posts that do not adhere to WVU and Facebook standards or group rules will be subject to removal, and you may be removed from the group upon investigation from the University’s group administrators.
  4. Moderators of the group will be reviewing posts and providing answers when necessary.
  5. Please be polite with one another. Our administrators will not tolerate any abuse. This group is a place for to learn more about WVU and receive answers to questions to ultimately help support you and your family during your student’s time at the University. We encourage members to report content they deem as abuse. Group moderators will review reported content.
  6. You joined this group on your own accord. At any point, you can remove yourself from the group. In addition, if you violate the group rules repeatedly, the University may remove you from the group. Posts and comments that violate the group rules may also be removed.

Group Do’s and Don’ts

Do:

  • Share relevant WVU information with other families.
  • Ask questions that might help inform you and your family to make better decisions.
  • Answer questions when you believe you know the answer.
  • Uplift other families through advice and experiences.
  • Share subleasing information.

Don’t:

  • Spread rumors. Any and all actual WVU information will be shared in the group by administrators. We may remove posts that are spreading misinformation.
  • Bully. If your posts or comment has been reported, we will look into the comment and it may be removed. Repeat offenders will be removed from the group.
  • Sell items. Only posts regarding subleasing is allowed.
