Mountaineer mascot Brock Burwell was born to be a Mountaineer, and he demonstrated Sunday (Aug. 22) how the Class of 2014—WVU’s newest students—are also meant to be Mountaineers. Burwell, who began wearing the buckskins as a 2-year-old when he accompanied his uncle Rock Wilson—then the Mountaineer—to various WVU events, spoke to some 5,000 freshmen attending the New Student Welcome at the Coliseum. The event featured a tongue-in-cheek video documentary, with a social media component, created to build a sense of community and pride around the pride that the Mountaineer—and his/her stance—embodies. Enjoy this unconventional and memorable piece—http://wvutoday.wvu.edu/n/2010/08/23/new-wvu-students-learn-what-it-means-to-be-a-mountaineer—and e-mail your best photo in the Mountaineer stance to: wvu@wiffiti.com
