WVU Mountaineer Parents Club Loyalty Permanent Endowment Fund Scholarship for High School Student Body Presidents

Awarded annually by the Loyalty Permanent Endowment Fund of the WVU Alumni Association, the $1000 scholarship is awarded to West Virginia high school senior who served as student body presidents.
“We are pleased that the Board of the Loyalty Permanent Endowment Fund of the WVU Alumni Association has provided funds for scholarships that encourage outstanding West Virginia high school senior to attend WVU,” said Mountaineer Parents Club executive director, Sabrina Cave.
Following are the guidelines that pertain to the 2011-2012 potential scholarship recipients:

• A $1,000 scholarship will be offered yearly to the first thirty West Virginia high school student body presidents that accept this offer in writing. The scholarship will be awarded in two distributions of $500 for each semester during their freshman year.
• The $1,000 scholarship is offered for their freshman year only, and will not be renewed for additional years.
• If students receive additional scholarships from West Virginia University exceeding the amount for $5,000 per year, it will negate this scholarship offer.
• Each January, a letter will be sent from the Mountaineer Parents Club Office to every high school guidance counselor and student body president in West Virginia informing them of the scholarship and requesting the application be returned no later than March 1, of the student body president’s graduation year. Under NO circumstances will this deadline be deferred to a later date.
• Under NO circumstances will the scholarship be deferred to a later date, specifically if the student is attending a branch campus for the first year. This scholarship is intended for student of the WVU main campus only.
• Scholarship recipients will receive their funding from representatives of the Loyalty Permanent Endowment Fund at the Erickson Alumni Center at the beginning of each semester.

LPEF Reception—An open house for students and parents will be held on Friday, August 19 from 1-5 p.m. in the David C. Hardesty Atrium/Alma Mater Room of The Erickson Alumni Center. Students can pick up their scholarship checks during that time while enjoying light refreshments. Free parking is available in the lot adjacent to the building. Students who are unable to pick up their checks on the 19th may do so the following week at The Erickson Alumni Center (second floor) beginning at 8:15 a.m. Students/families that are moving in that day to stop by the alumni center, enjoy some light refreshments and take a break from move-in day.
